This thread might help others. My Ubuntu 10.04 had been running fine, then all of a sudden I can't get online :mad:. Under network connections, both the Bluetooth and the Wireless are enabled, but they also both have red crosses on their icons which I'm guessing means that they're not connected to a Will not turn on. you can try this out

So here was my solution: Reboot back up into Windoze. Does the router handle the network address translating and IP assignments for the access point, or is the router configured only as a switch allowing the modem to handle the DHCP? then you need to go into the router and recheck the settings.

- When back up, check 'enable networking', then reboot.........
- When I try to go in, the wireless is grayed out so I can not turn on.
- I remember having the AR5007 on a Dlink card that I've since removed for another (more stable and much more linux friendly).
- So I boot up in Ubuntu and wireless is dead.

Also, if you are using WPA2, check to see if there is a difference when connection using AES or TKIP encryption. See if that works and lets me check 'enable wireless'. The 'enable networking' has always had a check by it. However, my switch was *on*.
